Documents

When getting married in Denmark, only a few documents are required for the process.

The documents vary, depending on your nationality and former marital status.

 

Below You will find more information on the documents needed.

You will need to scan and send the documents to us in advance and bring them along when you come to Denmark.

Schengen or EU Residents

A filled out enquiry form from Wedding in Denmark (see below)

 

The Notice of Marriage

You will receive this form from us and return it filled out and signed

Passport or ID card
You must attach pictures or copies of all pages in your passport
including the front and back pages

Certificate of Residence

Proof if you live outside Denmark.
Must be attached both in original language and German or English

Civil Status Certificate (Letter of Non-Impediment)
This form confirm your current martial status - eg. single, divorced or widowed.

Final Divorce Decree or Death Certificate
This document must be the original, translated into either English or German, as well as legalised or apostilled if applicable.

Non- Schengen or EU Residents

A filled out enquiry form from Wedding in Denmark (see below)

Documentation for legal entry and residence in Denmark

eg. VISA, entry stamp in passport or EU residency

Certificate of Residence

Proof if you live outside Denmark.
Must be attached both in original language and German or English

Civil Status Certificate (Letter of Non-Impediment)
This form confirm your current martial status
- eg. single, divorced or widowed.

Final Divorce Decree or Death Certificate
This document must be the original, translated into either Englishor German, as well as legalised or apostilled if applicable.

Procedure 

Before coming to Denmark

 

Before dealing with the documents,
a startup fee of € 250  must be paid through our webshop

 

The above mentioned documents will have to be sent to ud in advance and we will have them approved by the local authorities.

 

We will coordinate all the details of your dream wedding with you

 

 

While in Denmark

 

Make sure to bring the original documents, which will be presented to the local authorities upon your arrival in Denmark and the town of Præstø or Vordingborg

 

Enjoy your special day

 

 

 

When leaving Denmark

After celebrating your special day, you need to make sure that the wedding is valid in your country of residence

The marriage certificate will be issued in Danish and English and we will help you legalize it through the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs

 

If you are residing in a country not acceded to the Apostille Convention, you will need to have your documents legalized by the Embassy of Consulate of your home country, in Copenhagen.
